ASHBURN, GA (WALB) -

Turner County residents commemorated past and present veterans by unveiling a wall of honor Monday morning.

The unveiling was special for Shirley Brock who lost a close friend in service.

"It's very important to me because we had so much bloodshed for us to have freedom," Brock said. "It touches my heart ... it touches my heart."

Wayne Menter, the commander of American Legion Post 98 in Ashburn helped put this together. He says the feeling of seeing a loved one on this wall is hard to describe

"You just can't put it into words," Menter said. "As a veteran, its overwhelming because you know what they have been through."

Officials are still accepting names to add to the wall.
