Officers arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a Barnwell woman who was found dead in her house after it burned.

Michael Paul Buckmon, 36, of Barnwell and Mathew Bolen, 23, of Williston, S.C. are each charged with murder, first-degree arson, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and conspiracy, according to the Barnwell Police Department.

Firefighters found the body of Donna Dempsey, 56, on Nov. 1 after responding to a fire at her house at 111 Berry St. in Barnwell.

An autopsy showed that Dempsey's death was a homicide, according to the police department.

The Barnwell Coroner said Dempsey died from smoke inhalation, but also suffered from blunt force trauma to the head.
