VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The suspect in an armed robbery at Bo's BP gas station in Valdosta on Saturday is behind bars.

Deharvene Sanchez Demps, 20, is facing charges of Armed robbery, false imprisonment and aggravated assault.

Lt. Stryde Jones with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office said "The clerk at Bo's BP was preparing to close up for the night when a male entered the store, produced a handgun and began demanding money from her."

"He assaulted the clerk by striking her several times with the handgun," said Stryde.

Demps will appear before a judge this afternoon to have his bond set.
