Lowndes Co. Sheriff's deputies arrested Deharvene Demps, who is charged with holding up Bo's BP Saturday night, and pistol whipping the female clerk.
Here is the news release issued by Lowndes Co. Sheriff Chris Prine-
On Saturday evening, around 10:20 pm deputies responded to a 911 call from the clerk at Bo's BP who reported that she had been robbed and assaulted. Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies discovered that a male entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money.
The clerk complied but was assaulted by the male who struck her several times with the handgun. The male forced the clerk into a store room and fled the business taking money, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The clerk was transported to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
Soon after the incident deputies stopped a vehicle on Val Tech Road and learned that the female driver had dropped off a male in the parking lot of the Commons Apartments. Deputies and investigators soon located Deharvene Demps in an apartment where he was arrested.
During the investigation, deputies and investigators located items of evidence, including the firearm, which turned out to be a BB gun and the wig that Deharvene Demps wore during the robbery.
Demps was transported to the Lowndes County Jail.
