SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Savannah Chapter 671 held their annual Veteran's Day program in Emmet Park at the Vietnam Monument on Bay Street.

Those in attendance there to honor veterans, some who paid the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation. Company Commander Daniel Maynard from the JROTC program at Windser Forest High School grew up in a family of veterans. He was honored to be among them this evening during this special ceremony.

"They signed a sheet of paper saying, 'You know, I'm very much aware that if I go to war I may not come home and I have no problem doing that'. That's the most courageous act in my eyes, I believe it's above precident to be a Patriot." said Maynard.

Company Commander Maynard, the special guest speaker tonight, asked that the City of Savannah and the surrounding areas try to attend the Veterans Day Parade tomorrow in Downtown Savannah.
