Leesburg police chief sports a new haircut

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A South Georgia Police Chief's haircut will help provide funding to send people to the Georgia Special Olympics.

For the past three months, Leesburg Police Chief, Charles Moore has been doing chemotherapy treatments for colon cancer. He decided to go ahead and cut off his hair, and help out a good cause.

More than thousand tickets were sold for people wanting to cut his hair.

"It feels different. That's why I sat there and did it. It's for a good cause. It's going to help the special Olympics that the Sheriff's office really pushed. And when it grows back a little bit, I'm going to spike it just like the Sheriff's hair," said Chief Moore.

Chief Moore says his hair hasn't been this short since he was a kid.
