A call for unity at Baker County School

The Baker County School System hosted a fall festival Friday evening. There were games and hay rides and a bake sale to raise money for the school, but there was a larger purpose.

Organizers say the community has been divided by controversy with the school board and the sales tax referendum that was defeated this week. They stressed unity and highlighted good things about the school.

Parent Teacher Organization President Misty Davis said, "Right now, we have a community divided. Not continuing the E-SPLOST has hurt the school and our children, and that's not what we want. We want the community to come together for the betterment of our children and our education."

The small school system has only one school that serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
