Viewpoint: Hold Elections on Even Years

If low turnout in early voting is any indication, odds are not many Georgians will be going to the polls this election day for municipal elections.

The races at city hall are just as important as those for seats in Washington and in Atlanta.

Therefore these city elections should be moved to the even years when voters are paying more attention to politics. And more voters are going to the polls.

Moving municipal elections to off years does ease workload for those who have to count the votes.

However, today's computer technology should make it easier to add city elections to the ballot in traditional election years.
