ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Several Health and Wellness speakers were in Albany today to provide information on ways to become more health conscious.  The non-profit organization Albany Tools for Change hosted the first of its two day wellness conference at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Speakers from the CDC discussed pollutants in the area that could cause illness and the harms of tobacco use.  Cancer prevention, obesity and diabetes were also on the conference's agenda. Health officials say the information they provide is to help people make better health decisions.

"So, our speakers are kind of using the methodology to kind of empower individuals to look at themselves and make good choices, make healthy choices for themselves and for their family," said Jackie Jenkins with Tools for Change.

The free conference is open to the public and continues tomorrow with a trip to Radium Springs from 9 a.m. to noon  to look at herb gardens. All participants must load the bus at the Albany Hilton Garden Inn at 8 a.m.
