Phoebe Putney Health System announced a new partnership with xG Health Solutions Tuesday in an effort to reduce healthcare costs in what officials call uncertain economic times.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the two entities said their mission is to help hospitals through the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, sequestration, and loss of volume.
xG Health Solutions, which is a Geisinger Health System affiliate, will aid Phoebe by providing a national model in how to improve outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
"Ultimately we think that the byproduct to the patient will be is usually going to be a less expensive experience. One that sustains quality and safety at the same time, and customer satisfaction," said Joel Wernick, Phoebe President & CEO.
The partnership between Phoebe and Geisinger comes as performance-based arrangements are put in place, where providers will be paid based on the quality, not the amount of care delivered to patients.
xG Health will now evaluate Phoebe Putney's current organizational structure, and explore new ways of paying for care.
Tuesday's announcement comes as the third of three phases in Phoebe's efforts to reduce overall costs, following staff reductions last month.
