COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A former Nakina Firefighter was sentenced to at least 51 months in prison for setting his house on fire while his wife and child were inside.

Columbus County prosecutors say Christopher McDevitt set his home on fire in 2008. His wife and child were inside the home when he set fire to it. He then went next door and set his aunt's home on fire.

There were no reports of injury to his wife, child, or aunt associated to the fire.
