NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – In recognition of Veterans Day, the North Myrtle Beach Museum will welcome a US Army Captain to share her experiences from her recent combat tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Katherine Jenerette will be the speaker at the monthly Neighborhood Connection - Women in War, which will be held on Wednesday, November 6 at noon. Residents are invited to attend, but are asked to RSVP by calling 843-427-7668.

Jenerette is a US Army Paratrooper and former US Congressional Field Representative for the old First Congressional District, SC. She returned home early last year from her second combat tour.

Jenerette is a 1995 CCU graduate, has served as a North Myrtle Beach Planning Commissioner, CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association, and as a member of the Horry County Envision 2025 Comprehensive Planning Committee task force. She was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in a blast while conducting combat operations on a mounted patrol to a FOB outpost when Taliban insurgents attacked it with an 82mm recoilless rifle.

If you plan to attend, bring a bag lunch or dish to share. Water and paper products will be provided.
