Investigators have arrested a man they said caused a fire at a gas station, which severely injured his wife.
Austin Dawkins, 37, of Clarksville, was charged with one count of reckless conduct, according to Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.
On Oct. 16, Dawkins was fueling his Ford F-250 at the Gulf Food Mart at 183 Grant Street when he ignited a cigarette lighter near his gas tank causing a fuel vapor explosion, according to Hudgens.
Dawkins' wife, Jessica Dawkins, 30, was standing next to her husband when the explosion occurred. She sustained second and third degree burns to her legs, arms, back and head.
The case has been turned over to the Habersham District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
