Update: Stabbing suspect surrenders

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Police Department is investigating the assault of two women on University Avenue.  

The suspect surrendered to police at the Law Enforcement Center a little after 9:00 p.m. Friday after WALB News 10 told viewers police were looking for him.

Officers were told that Dorothy Jones and her mother suffered stab wounds to the abdomen, when they were attacked suddenly by Jones' boyfriend, Rondelrick Demetrious Huckaby.

Jones told police she was in her bedroom when Huckaby jumped out of the closet, and attacked her without warning.

She said they begin fighting in the hall and made it into the kitchen, where her mother Felice Davis was.

Jones said Huckaby grabbed a knife and stabbed her once in the stomach, then attacked her mother, and stabbed her in the stomach as well.

Both mother and Daughter were transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital.

 Jones is in good condition, and Davis was not in the hospital as of Friday morning.

    Albany leaders are considering a new budget that includes an Albany Utilities rate hike that when added up will bring in $2.6 million annually to the utility. Divided out, it will mean a maximum of $7.68 per a customer that has all five services, less money for customers that use less services.
