Update: Police officer hit by teen driver released from hospital

A Sylvester Police officer hit by a pickup truck while directing traffic outside Worth County High School Wednesday afternoon was released from Phoebe Putney Hospital Wednesday night.

We're told Melanie Rodriguez is banged up but doesn't have any broken bones.

17 year-old Frederick Johnson is charged with distracted driving, driving on a learner's permit, and failure to obey an officer directing traffic.

Troopers believe he was fiddling with the radio as he pulled out of the parking lot onto Highway 313 about 3:10 p.m. and ran into Rodriguez.
