Student receives gifts from Atlanta Falcons for combating hunger

A Worth County Elementary school student received several surprises from the Atlanta Falcons in his effort to help combat hunger. Nine-year-old Matthew Rooks has collected more than 300 canned goods for the 2013 FALCAN Food Drive.

His mother tagged a picture of her son donating cans to the school to the Atlanta Falcons Facebook page. They reached out to Matthew sending him a personalized letter of thanks and a brand new Steven Jackson Jersey. Matthew says its important to donate to those in need. 

"Cause it helps them in a way, because they don't have food and then you're giving them food. You're giving them their food in cans so they can warm it up," said Matthew Rooks.

Matthew has collected 351 cans so far. The school who collects the most cans gets to see the Falcons play the Washington Redskins in December. The 2013 FALCAN Food Drive ends November 8th.
