Possible misuse of fuel was a finding in a recent financial audit report of the Allen Parish Fire Protection District 3 in Grant.

According to the independent report, released publicly Monday through the Louisiana Legislative Auditor's Office, possible fuel misuse was reported by a member of the Allen Parish Police Jury who represents the district.

"In examining the fuel records, it was noted that the district paid for fuel purchases by statements and had incomplete invoices to support the statement totals," the report states.

According to the district, corrective action is underway. The report says a member of the Louisiana State Police has been assigned to investigate the matter.

"His investigation is not complete, however, the district has made it mandatory that fuel purchases not be approved for payment until an invoice with amount of fuel was purchased, vehicle identification it was purchased for and the person who purchased the fuel. Statements will have invoices attached that match the statement before payment is made," the report continues.

The report was for the fiscal year that ended Dec. 31.
