RALEIGH, NC (WALB) -

The amusement ride operator arrested after investigators say someone tampered with a ride at the North Carolina State Fair and compromised safety devices, is from south Georgia

Timothy Dwayne Tutterrow of Quitman is facing three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Tutterrow was operating the "Vortex" ride when five people were hurt Thursday at the North Carolina State Fair.

He's due in court today. Investigators say more arrests could be made.

As of Sunday, three people injured on the ride remained hospitalized with injuries.

Witnesses say the ride jolted into gear as people were exiting, dropping some riders to the ground.
