HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A local group is working to make sure the homeless stay warm during the winter months.

The North Alabama Coalition For the Homeless is currently holding it's annual Winter Drive.

It kicked off October 2, and will last through the winter months.

The group is looking for new or gently used items. They're collecting blankets, gloves, sleeping bags, jackets, and more. From there volunteers will distribute them to the homeless.

Lynn Bullard, a member of the NAC said, "One of the beauties of this blanket drive is, so far we have not lost anyone to hyperthemia since this blanket drive has been going and that's why i see this is such a critical thing for our community."
