Lee county residents weigh in on major road projects
LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -
Lee County leaders are getting input from people who will be impacted by two major road projects.
The county held a public hearing tonight to talk about the Forrester Parkway and Westover Road Extensions.
The Forrester project would be 5 miles long and connect U.S 19 with U.S 82. Some property owners worried the road will take up part of their land don't like it.
County officials say it's still in the planning stages and they want the public's input.
This is the route that we recommend but we are at a point where we need to get more community input so we can decide if this is the best route or not," said Bob Alexander, Planning & Engineering Director, Lee County.
"I live in the Glendale subdivision and due to the high speed traffic we have now, it's just going to increase it," said Ronnie Farr, concerned citizen.
The Westover project will run from Ledo Road to Fussell Road. It should be finished by next spring.
