Mother of suicide victim speaks out against bullying

TROY, AL (WSFA) -

October is National Bullying Awareness and Prevention Month and a Troy mother is sharing the story of how her 12-year-old daughter took her life after being bullied.

Bindi Post says she still cries every night but wanted to attend the anti-bullying town hall meeting to help prevent another tragedy in her community.

In December her sixth grade daughter, Zoe Post, took her life.

"She had gone to a party at the school, a Christmas party, the Friday before. When she came home from the dance she was crying. It had something to do with kids at the school but she wouldn't say. It was just too much you know," Bindi Post said.

Zoe's father found her dead in her room just two days after her 12th birthday.

What led to her death was the focus of Troy's first anti-bullying town hall meeting.

It was a brainstorming session that brought together city and county school leaders, Troy University officials and mental health experts.

"I'm hoping that if we even just save one person, you know, that she didn't die in vain," Bindi Post said.
