Second Harvest of South Georgia, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization in the region, is hosting Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 26, at its Valdosta and Albany branches.

For more than two decades, the Points of Light foundation has sponsored this national day of community service that connects people with opportunities to serve.  Just as it has in years past, Second Harvest is participating in Make a Difference Day in order to let local community volunteers be a part of the fight to end hunger in South Georgia.

Volunteers who take part in this day of hard, but very rewarding, work will have a direct effect on the lives of families, children and senior citizens.

Volunteer projects will last approximately 2-3 hours and will have participants including individuals, families, corporate teams and civic and church groups.

It is a day of volunteer service at South Georgia's regional food bank branches in Valdosta and Albany.  Currently we have 450 volunteers registered (300 Valdosta, 150 Albany).  Volunteers can still register at

Second Harvest of South Georgia serves 30 South Georgia counties and is the region's leading domestic hunger-relief charity.  Headquartered in Valdosta, the organization has locations in Albany, Douglas, and Thomasville.
