ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

For the first time Albany has two firefighters of the year. Tuesday night City commissioners honored Captain Tony Denby and Firefighter Derrick Eldridge for saving a woman's life earlier this year.

"It feels great especially when you're recognized by your peers, that do the job day in and day out, and to be recognized by these individuals is a great honor," said Tony Denby, Captain, Albany Fire Department.

Back in February, Denby and Eldridge fought their way into a burning home on Johnson Road and carried out a woman who was overcome by smoke, saving her life. They then went right back to work putting out the fire.
