Fire displaces south Georgia family

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

As firefighters were battling an apartment fire at the Regency Club apartments on Tompkins Avenue, they got a call about this fire at a home on McClain Lane in northwest Albany.    

The homeowner told us she was on her way home when the fire broke out, and she actually heard her smoke alarm going off as she approached the house.      She's grateful she and her kids were not home at the time when the fire broke out.

"I lost everything I had, and I got two kids, I'm just glad they were not in there," said Charity Powell, victim. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
