GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies are looking for a shooter after a young male was shot while he was walking home on Monday, according to Lt. Tim Ridgeway of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

Ridgeway said the victim was walking home from playing basketball at the Sterling Community Center when someone ran up behind him, pulled a gun and opened fire.

The boy was walking on a cut through near Fourth and Sixth streets in the Judson Community of Greenville County, Ridgeway said.

The victim dodged most of the bullets but was shot in the foot, Ridgeway said. He said he did not believe the injury to be life-threatening.

Deputies were on the scene looking for the shooter and shell casings. So far, they have not released any details about a possible suspect or if any arrests were made.
