LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

WALB News is on the scene off Highway 32 where a Leesburg Police Officer has shot and fatally wounded a man in the City of Leesburg.

We now know the man shot and killed by Leesburg Police was wanted for breaking into a house and attacking the owner.

The shooting happened on Magnolia Street, just east of downtown.

Police tell us the man who was shot and killed was wanted for a violent home invasion in Leesburg October 19th.

Officers got a tip that he was hiding inside a vacant house and when they went to arrest him, there was a confrontation, and he was shot.

The shooting scene is just a couple of blocks off Highway 32 near Lee County High School.
