Hygiene products needed for benefiting organizations

Erin Hutchins Erin Hutchins
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Erin Hutchins is on her second year of collecting hygiene supplies, and she's asking the community to help with donations.

"Outside of clothing and food, this is a need for families, because they are expensive and this is something that they don't need to worry about, said Erin Hutchins.

Hutchins says people can drop off supplies at four locations around town this week.

"Deodorant, toothpaste, soap, I like to ask people if they travel a lot, hotel minis, little bars of soap and shampoo," said Erin Hutchins.

This community hygiene supply drive will help take the burden off people who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford them.

"Not everybody can get the nice things that we all can so, I think that they will realize that they get these things all the time, I go to Walmart and picks this up, but there's somebody out there that just can't do that," said Erin Hutchins.

Hutchins says she's excited about continuing this tradition. She says last year more than $3,000 worth of supplies was collected.

"I just like doing things for people. I do. If you're hand is open for to give, its open to receive and I think that is people thought more of that here in Albany we would have a better place, said Erin Hutchins.

People can drop off hygiene donations at these locations:

  • Albany Area YMCA
  • Verge
  • U-Save-It Pharmacy (all locations)
  • Expressations Embroidery
