TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of high school and elementary students were given an up close look at Southwest Georgia's history.

Friday, 600 kids from around Albany, two schools from Orlando and a school from South Carolina visited the Georgia Museum of Agriculture during their fall break.

They learned about rural and agricultural living between 1870 to 1910 and got some hands on knowledge about some classic trades like blacksmithing.

"They're learning in a fun way.  Interactive, hands on, got their hands dirty and also got to learn about it at the same time.  We have a corn maze and a pumpkin patch that they can participate in today.  And they get to learn and have fun," said Garrett Boone, Assistant Director.

The kids stayed until 3pm Friday.  The museum will have an autumn celebration Saturday.  They're also planning a zombie run next week to bring in Halloween through the historic village next weekend as well as some trick-or-treating.

Visit www.ABAC.edu/museum for more information on their programs, or call (229)391-5205.
