Tift county leaders are fed up with the littering problem in Tifton, which they say could be harming economic growth.
Commissioner Melissa Cheevers is holding her "One Street at a Time" clean-up at the corner of Whiddon Street and Fourth Avenue Saturday at 8am.
She said residents have been complaining about trash and debris in the neighborhood, and said it could cause flooding if water ways are blocked.
Cheevers has been cleaning the streets in her district for the last 8 years, and is hoping to have a big turnout.
"It shouldn't be just one part of our community that is nice and pretty. And people are moving out because we don't have that nice, pretty community. We could have that right here at district 2," said Melissa Chevers, Tift County Commissioner.
Chevers said 30 volunteers turned out for her last event, and she's hoping to top that.
She said cash and some gift cards to local restaurants will be available in a prize drawing incentive.
