COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Some trees in Columbus have a new look tonight as part of Saint Luke School's Trees Columbus mission for October.

To bring awareness about their mission, students "bombed" trees with yarn.

The entire school is raising money this month to plant trees on school grounds in memory of their Spanish teacher, Ms. Jeanne Bastone, who passed away earlier this week.

One student, 4th grader Brooks Buffington, told News Leader 9 about their goal.

"Well if we reach our goal of $1,000, we will place a tree behind the 318 building on the playground," said Brooks.

The yarn bombing event was planned by the school's art teacher.
