SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

A little girl's generosity is helping homeless animals.

Mallory Burger just turned nine. Instead of a birthday party and presents for herself, she asked people to donate to help Best Friends Humane Society in Worth County.

Tuesday, she delivered 28 bags of dog and cat food to the shelter. "I got one of my dogs from the shelter, so I wanted to give something to the other dogs," she said.

Shelter Director Sherrie Hendley was thrilled to accept the donation. "We just appreciate every time someone does this for us. It's a great blessing for us to receive donations like this," Hendley said.

Mallory's birthday was October 7th. She spent about two weeks collecting the donations that she delivered Tuesday afternoon.
