SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The long awaited CD release is out today. Toad the Wet Sprocket, the band known for such chart-topping songs as "Walk on the Ocean", "All I Want", "Something's Always Wrong", and "Fall Down", release their first new album in 16 years today, celebrating with in store performance at local record store Salzers Records in Ventura, California. Fans and critics alike have embraced the band who wrapped up their Kickstarter Campaign in August with an overwhelming $264,762, 529% of its original goal. New Constellation, featuring 11 new songs produced by Mikal Blue, is being independently released on the band's label, Abe's Records and available in all digital stores (iTunes, Amazon, etc.) as well as physical retailers.
Coming out of the gate with a Rolling Stone premiere of the first single and title track of the album on June 5, traveling through late summer and well into fall to play shows including Farm Aid, and gaining momentum with fans and the press, the band will continue on their extensive tour through November.
Release is meeting with support from fans and critics alike:
" 'New Constellation' rides a simple guitar and vocal melody adorned with chimes into a shimmering, devotional chorus that recalls the halcyon days of college rock sing-alongs." - Rolling Stone
"The fantastic record picks up where the band's career left off in the late '90s; its acoustic-electric guitar blends, lyrical introspection and longing harmonies feel timeless, not nostalgic."- Slate Magazine
"Toad is in a good place now, both musically and emotionally. That's reason enough for music fans everywhere to rejoice."- What Culture
"[New Constellation] marks new textual territory as well. To call it adult angst would undermine the subtlety with which Phillips approaches his subject matter… testing out the band dynamic and exploring new songwriting styles,"- American Songwriter
"Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket knows fans of the iconic 1990s band are ready for a comeback. Numbers don't lie. When the group announced plans to record a new album through a Kickstarter fundraising campaign, the band's followers pledged $260,000 (529% of its goal) to the cause" -Pollstar
"The new record (is) worth the wait to the Toad fans who helped make it happen. The quality of the band's writing hasn't skipped a beat and there's even a sense of laid-back California optimism, proving that the band, which still has all four original members, is having fun making music" - Ventura County Reporter
