ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany Police Department tag reader helped police capture a couple of suspected drug dealers.

A-P-D officials say the units that read license plates and immediately show officer information about the car and who it's registered to are very beneficial.

Sunday, a reader gave a hit on someone driving without proper registration, and officers found several bags of marijuana in the car.

"There is nothing called a simple traffic stop, an officer can locate additional things just by stopping for a suspended registration, or suspended tag, or even if your license has been revoked," said Phyllis Banks, PR Manager, Albany Police Department.

A-P-D has had the tag readers for about two years.
