BLAKELY, GA (WALB) - The Early County Sheriff's Office is getting a head start on collecting food for Thanksgiving.
They started their "Food for Families" project more than a month ago.
A sergeant at the sheriff's office decorated a box to hold all the food. Employees plan to distribute the food to families in need right before thanksgiving.
"Our goal is to help feed as many needy families this thanksgiving as we can. Sheriff William Price and the rest of the department wants to give back to the community for all they supported us through the years," said Sgt. Jennifer Hunt.
The sheriff's office has donation boxes like these setup at the Harvey's and Piggly Wiggly in Blakely.
