ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany YMCA has a new leader, and he is all about accomplishing goals.

Dan Gillan spent 33 years in the Marines. He retired from active duty in 2007. Gillan spent the next 4 years as a defense consultant and now comes to Albany from San Diego.

He also teaches boot camp style fitness.

At a meet and greet Monday, Gillan talked about his immediate goals to meet members, get familiar with local needs, and see the YMCA grow.

"We've got lots of opportunities when you look at our basic tenants of the Y- health, mind, body, spirit, and apply that throughout not only Albany, Dougherty County but Lee County as well," said Gillan.

The new director is heading up a boot camp challenge on November 2nd and a chili run on November 9th.

For more information call the Albany YMCA at 436-0531.
