ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Air Force Staff Sergeant from Leesburg is home visiting family this weekend after being deployed in South Korea for eight months. Steven Wood made it home just in time for his son's 5th birthday party.

Deck out in all camouflage, Weston Woods got the biggest gift ever for his 5th birthday party, a surprise visit from his dad. It's been about eight months since he's seen his father, whose been deployed in South Korea.

"It's exciting because Steven is the type of father that's has to been there for everything. So just for him to be able to be here for his 5th birthday is an awesome feeling," said Blaire Wood.

Weston says he wants to be just like his dad, and that's why he picked the military theme.

"I don't think any father could be prouder of his son and it lets me know that he's proud of me as well," said Steven Wood.

His dad left for deployment in February, and this is his first visit since he left. He'll be home for one month before he has to go back to South Korea.

Steven says he happy he's able to celebrate another cherished moment with his family.

"I'm ecstatic, getting to see them again. Just ecstatic, that's all I can say," said Steven Wood.

Weston says he missed his dad, and the first thing he wants to do is go camping with him.

"Because my daddy hasn't been here for a long time," said Weston Wood.

The family has a long list of plans this week, and memories to share with their real life G. I. Joe.

Steven has about three months of deployment left in South Korea. After that, the family will move to England, where Steven will be stationed for three years.
