Facebook privacy changes raise questions about security

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some changes in the Facebook privacy settings have alarmed some users who worry their accounts could more easily be hacked.

The social media site will now allow users Timeline to pop up when someone searches for you by name.  Facebook actually removed the privacy setting to keep Timeline's secret last year, but a small number of accounts hadn't yet been affected by the changes.

Now, some users are planning to be more cautious with their posts.

"I think that as a Facebook user, we need to all be cautious that it is a public site.  It is a free site, and there are millions of people on Facebook.  So obviously there are people creating false pages, people are snipping data," said Isha Odom, Leesburg Resident & Facebook user.

Many others we spoke with worry the changes will make accounts more vulnerable to hacking, but few said the changes wouldn't have any impact.

Everyone we spoke with said users need to be careful about information they share.
