Murder charges pending in Valdosta shooting death

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Police in Valdosta say 4 people are facing charges and pending charges after a 19 year old man was shot and killed Thursday morning.

Deno Alvin Lewis, 51, Michael Terrell Wise, 19, and James Lee Powell, 19 have been charged with aggravated assault, and have murder charges pending. Police also say a 16 year old juvenile was involved in the case and charges are pending against him.

Police say it happened in the 700 block of Hill Terrace shortly after 9 a.m. Police responded to a report of a dead person.

The victim, Tevin Martin, was found in the back yard of a home at 714 Hill Terrace, that officers determined to be a vacant residence.

According to a report, Martin had multiple gunshot wounds.

Lewis, Wise, and Powell are in the Lowndes County Jail.

Valdosta Police say the case is still under investigation, and anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the department at 229-293-3145 or can remain anonymous at 229-293-3091.
