VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police say one man is in custody after a fire broke out at a vacant home Sunday. Officials say it happened just before noon at a home on Lausanne Drive.

First responders say smoke and flames were coming from the home when they arrived, and found Patrick Mack, 18, just outside the door of the residence.

Mack was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, then later taken to the Valdosta Police Department for questioning. He was then placed under arrest and charged with arson and burglary. He is in the Lowndes County Jail.

The owner of the residence told Police at the scene of the fire that the home was vacant.

No one else was injured in the fire.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call Valdosta Police at 229-293-3091.
