ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dozens of people gathered at the Creekwood Plaza for the Lee County Democratic Party's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Saturday.

The festivities included dinner and a guest speaker. Saturday guests heard from State Representative Nikki Randall.

Right now party leaders say they are focusing on two main issues, the government shutdown, and the Affordable Health Care Act.

Lee County chairperson Trish Batten says it's a important for people to stay informed.

"We talk about the things that are going on, our number one thing is healthcare, the government shutdown. We need to be educated about whats going on around us and really what we need is the truth," says Trish Batten, Lee County Democratic Chairperson.

The Lee County Democratic Party meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Lee County Government Building.
