Runners will be lacing up their running shoes tomorrow

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Folks will be lacing up their running shoes Saturday along the Flint River.  Downtown Friday evening, runners were registering to take part in a 1 mile or a 5-k race Saturday morning.

It's sponsored by the Dougherty County Medical Society to raise money for Darton College's Allied Health Program.

Organizers say it's a great way to help Darton.

"Well it's going to be a great day with beautiful weather and to help support our local community college and money towards bringing more to our medical community," said Amy Fix, race director.   The registration fee for the one mile run that starts at 8:30 is $30.   The 5-k kicks off at 8:50 and is $35.

They begin behind the welcome center downtown.
