ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany State Center for the African American Male is gearing up for a Fishing Rodeo on Saturday.

College students will pair up with young people and spend the afternoon fishing and having fun together. Parents will drop off their kids at Albany State, then they'll be bused to the pond on Gillionville Road.

Coordinators say this is a great way to help inspire young people.

"A lot of our students our education majors and part of being an education major is you have to be hands on. You have to be able to teach the subject but you also have to be able to interact with kids It helps with social development and spacial awareness and being aware of not just one kids but you have ten kids you are responsible for so we have the buddy buddy or tag team approach," Antonio Leroy, Executive Director of CAAM.

The buses will leave the ASU campus at 9 am. The fishing rodeo will wrap up with a lunch.
