Georgia state parks are open to visitors

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The government shutdown won't affect state parks in Georgia. Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in Crisp County is fully operational.

Managers at the park say they've received lots of calls from people wondering if they're open for business. They say they've actually seen more visitors than normal this week.

"I do know that there have been some people who have been vacationing in this part of Georgia and have said they can't go to the federal parks. They have come here. So we've had some additional campers come because of that," said Jeb Bell, Resource Manager at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park.

The Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park is open 8 to 5, seven days a week.
