ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Buying energy and water efficient appliances or products? This is the weekend to do it in Georgia.

Friday begins the sales tax holiday weekend in Georgia for buying appliances with the 'Energy Star' or 'Water Sense' label.

Products like refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, and even faucets, toilets and showerheads can be bought tax free at up to $1,500 each.

South Georgia merchants say customers will save with the purchase and on future power bills.

"It will save you way down the road on this Energy Star," said Jerry Justice of Knight's Appliances and Electronics. "You can take a hot water heater.  They have energy star hot water heaters. They will pay for themselves. You can buy and save lots of money."

Georgia's energy and water efficient appliances sales tax holiday runs through Sunday.
