ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany's top Engineer, Bruce Maples,  announced a road closure that will affect downtown traffic next week.

From Monday, October 7, through Friday October 11, the 100 Block of Pine Avenue will be closed to through traffic.

Front Street will be open to the traffic circle in front of the Flint RiverQuarium.

Zane Grace Construction will be installing brick crosswalks on Pine Avenue with a streetscape project.  Road construction is expected to be complete in one week.

"It's going to be amazingly beautiful," said Albany Downtown Mgr. Aaron Blair. "So what you see on Front Street, is the historic brick crosswalks.  So we are matching those up on Pine Avenue then."

Motorists are asked to slow down and use caution in the area.
