ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Despite rumors among employees, officials at the Marine Corps Logistics Base tell us no contract workers have been furloughed because of the federal government shutdown, and they say there are no plans to furlough them.

Contractors handle much of the work at the Maintenance Center refurbishing heavy equipment.

About 900 federal civilian workers at the Marine Base were furloughed Tuesday and will remain off the job until the budget impasse in Washington is settled.
