Buddy walk coming back to Legacy Park

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Buddy Walk is back to raise awareness for Down Syndrome.

The 2nd annual one mile walk will take place Saturday at the football field at Legacy Park next to Sherwood Christian Academy.

It's ten dollars to register and the money will go to the National Down Syndrome Society for research.

Kayla Luckie was inspired to start the buddy walk because her 4 -year old son has Down Syndrome.

"They look at a child with Down Syndrome and they see down syndrome. I want people to understand that they are a child first, Down Syndrome is just a diagnosis, it's a label," said Kayla Luckie.

The first 150 people to register for the walk will get a Buddy Walk T-Shirts. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 10:00 a.m.

You can contact Kayla Luckie if you need more information at 229-869-0411 or sowegabuddywalk@gmail.com
