Valdosta robbery suspect turns himself in

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police say the man accused of hitting a cashier in the face during a robbery has turned himself in to officers.

According to a release, Demetrius Anderson turned himself in to the Lowndes County Jail after arrest warrants were issued for him.

The robbery happened September 25 around 9:45 a.m. at Lee's Mini Mart on Ann Street. Officials say a man pretended to buy a drink, and as the cashier opened the cash register, the robber hit him in the face and took $250 out of the drawer, then ran away.

Warrants were later issued for Anderson in connection to the robbery.

Anderson was recently featured as one of WALB's Most Wanted.

Official charges were not immediately released.
