MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) -

Drivers in Mitchell County are dealing with road construction zones as crews fix up roads after years of wear and tear. Workers are resurfacing 9 miles of pavement on Williams Circle and six other roads.

SPLOST money and a maintenance grant are paying for the million dollar project. County officials say the work is needed to maintain the county's infrastructure.

"It's a new road way, no longer pot holes and that sort of thing, and we expect this to last for many many years," said Mitchell County Administrator Clark Harrell.

The six other roads being resurfaced are: Landfill Rd, Saxon Rd, Pinecone Rd, Stagecoach Rd, Indian Camp Rd, and Walker Rd.

Construction will be complete within the next twenty days.
