ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of Phoebe Putney employees are now protected against the flu after the hospital began giving vaccinations Tuesday.

It is now mandatory for Phoebe employees to get a flu shot. The only exceptions are for those with a doctor's note saying the vaccine could be dangerous to them or those who have a religious objection to being vaccinated.

Family nurse practitioner Michelle Collins said "It's important for everybody to get their flu vaccine, but the reason why it's so important for hospital employees because it not only protects the employees, but it's going to protect the patients that we're taking care of."

Phoebe will administer flu vaccines through November 22nd.
